Halloween Hand Loot Bags
Each year we give out candy to about 50 kids. This is not as many kids we use to get. There use to be about 100 per year only 10 years ago. I guess there are not as many kids as there were in the past. It has become a tradition to put together treat bags in our house to hand out. This year we are adding a little twist with these Halloween hand loot bags.
Growing up there was always paranoia around having candy that could be tainted or worse. Parents would dump the bag on the table and would discard anything that looked suspicious. Homemade treats where always taboo. Such a shame because who wouldn’t love homemade candy apples or squares. My grade five teacher did something awesome…he made homemade candied popcorn. What he did different is he put a nice ribbon on the bag with a tag with his name, address, phone number and note stating if you had any concerns to please give him a call. That candied popcorn tasted great!!! How many people would do that these days? I think of him each year when we put together our loot bags.
Here is what you will need to put together your loot bags:
- vinyl gloves
- Rockets
- Rice Crispy Squares
- assorted candy bars
- suckers
- ribbon
- plastic Halloween rings
Off course you can stuff the gloves with whatever candy you feel will work best. We just happen to enjoy the leftovers. Why give out something you wouldn’t eat?
Step 1:
Put rockets into the fingers of the gloves.
Step 2:
Put candy bar into thumb. Smarties boxes can be a little tricky. Put 2 suckers with sticks into fingers to make them a little more rigid.
Step 3:
Put Rice Crispy Square in for the palm.
Step 4:
Put on ring and tie closed with ribbon.
Finally, time to hand out all the loot to the little ghosts and goblins.
