Strawberry Blueberry Shakes
Who doesn’t love strawberries, blueberries, ice cream and honey. Add them all together and you get strawberry blueberry shakes. Berries are best when they are fresh and in season. This year we didn’t have the time to go picking so we bought the berries. Our family would love to go picking, but life gets busy. The black bears have also been out in full force this year. Six bears have been caught in the trap across the street from our house this week alone. (Don’t worry, catch and release) You don’t want to run into a hungry mama bear with cubs in the woods. Not exactly a Yogi and Boo Boo encounter.
Here is what you will need.
Ingredients:
- Strawberries
- Blueberries
- Vanilla Ice Cream
- Honey
- Cream
Utensils:
- Blender
- Cutting Board
- Knife
- Straws
- Glasses
Step 1:
Wash and cut strawberries.
Step 2:
Put cut strawberries and blueberries in blender.
Step 3:
Put in vanilla ice cream. Be sure to put in layers of ice cream and berries until the blender is full. Add honey and cream. Remember, the less cream you use the thicker the shake will be. You don’t want to have the shake too thick or you won’t be able to suck it through the straw. Here is the tough part. Several batches may need to be made in order to get the consistency just right.
Step 4:
Blend. Pour into glass. Garnish with blueberries/strawberries . I haven’t been able to find the thick straws in any stores to buy. Any time you order a Happy Meal be sure to crab a few extra straws.
The strawberry blueberry shakes are a huge hit with the family. They ask for them all the time. My son loves helping with the blender.
Enjoy!!
